My desire to share stories with the world started in the 90’s, shortly after my family got their first personal computer and printer. Every month, I worked diligently to write and format a one page newsletter that told the outrageous and sometimes embarrassing stories of my closest friends. At that time, ink for personal printers was still very expensive. While I wanted to reach the world, a lack of funds kept my readership to a solid 3-4 copies a month. Ten years later I became a stay-at-home mom who needed an outlet for my creativity and writing. During that time I started writing my blog, Clumsy Crafter. Educating myself on how to make graphics for social media, earning authentic engagement, SEO and the best ways to write evergreen content fueled a fire that hasn’t stopped.
In 2011, I attended the first Houston Blogger’s meeting before eventually coming on board to help lead Houston’s top blogging association. Relationships I met there led me to step into helping with the #TexasBloggers Twitter chat which eventually changed into nationally trending #BlogElevated Twitter chat. Together with my business partner, we formed Blog Elevated Conference and Community. Our goal was to educate bloggers on the best digital marketing practices and looking back years later, we succeeded. Over time, because of requests from other companies to help them with their digital marketing, we formed Quickly Owl Media.
My life has revolved around telling stories. Sometimes I use pictures and graphic design, other times I might use TikTok or Instagram. Clumsy Crafter still tells about my love of creating. Over the past two years I’ve written for a mental health website, telling a more personal story that I’m passionate about.
